The CA Budget Act of 2023 introduced changes to the accountability system. One change was the inclusion of an additional provision within Education Code 52071, which augments Differentiated Assistance for CA school districts:
For any school district in which one or more pupil subgroups meets the criteria for technical assistance for three or more consecutive years, the school district’s geographic lead agency shall, in collaboration with the county superintendent of schools, provide technical assistance to the school district. The geographic lead agency shall evaluate whether the assistance of one or more expert lead agencies should be consulted as part of the technical assistance process.
The resources linked below are intended to support the implementation of EC52071 in the 2025-2026 school year and beyond. The 2025 Dashboard marks the third consecutive year of data after the approval of this new provision and is the first year in which districts may be eligible for Geographic Lead Differentiated Assistance.
